On their eponymous 1989 debut album, revered by many (the Albumism team included) as a bona fide masterpiece, The Stone Roses proclaimed “I Am the Resurrection” in the LP’s epic closing track. Now, twenty-seven years later, the anxiously awaited resurrection of the long defunct British indie rock heroes has thankfully become a reality.
Following reunion gigs the Manchester legends played throughout the UK in 2012 and 2013, Ian Brown, John Squire and crew are hard at work in the studio recording their first album since 1994’s Second Coming. Earlier today, the group delivered a preview of their forthcoming, as-yet untitled LP in the form of lead single “All For One,” their first official single since the release of 1995’s “Begging You.” Upon initial listens, the shimmering track represents a magnificent return to form for the celebrated band and augurs wonderful things to come as the album comes to fruition later this year.
