Oftentimes, the simplest love songs are the most powerful. Such is the case with Sera Cahoone’s newly unveiled song “Up To Me,” the evocative, acoustic lead single from her forthcoming fourth studio album From Where I Started. With imaginative references to being “your garden, let’s plant some flowers” and “your sidewalk, I’ll take you everywhere,” the former Carissa’s Weird and Band of Horses drummer declares her love with yearning devotion and sincerity, while acknowledging that reciprocation from the object of your affection is, sadly, not always a given.
Slated to arrive in stores March 24th, From Where I Started is the follow-up to 2012’s acclaimed Deer Creek Canyon and finds the Seattle-based singer-songwriter conjuring her earliest musical associations defined by “the twang of country crooners and cowboy boots on peanut shells” she heard at the old honky-tonks her father took her to when she was younger. Cahoone will road-test the album on her upcoming tour which kicks off February 11th in Willamina, OR and includes ten dates in support of Tift Merritt.
