One year removed from the April 2016 release of her acclaimed, Grammy award-nominated ninth studio album The Hope Six Demolition Project, PJ Harvey has returned with new music to stimulate our senses and stir our souls. Available as a 7” vinyl single on her current tour and digital download, the Double A-Side release features the powerful, politically charged singles “A Dog Called Money” and “I’ll Be Waiting.”
The former track is a percussive, slow-churning duet with longtime songwriting partner John Parish that finds the duo lamenting, “Everything is staged / That’s how it is / People just paint the wall / What you gonna do to change it? / It’s all about money / That’s what’s going on,” presumably in reference to the dubious motivations of the Trump administration and/or the Brexit movement in Great Britain. The accompanying acoustic composition “I’ll Be Waiting” is a somber examination of war-torn destruction told from a child’s perspective.
Harvey is scheduled to perform in Austin, TX this evening and her North American tour runs through July, followed by a run of European festival dates this summer. The full tour itinerary can be found here.
