A musical renaissance man on the rise (and an Albumism favorite), Jordan Rakei has announced that his sophomore album Wallflower is slated to hit stores September 22nd. It’s the highly anticipated follow-up to the New Zealand born, London based singer-songwriter-instrumentalist’s divinely crafted 2016 debut LP Cloak and represents his first full-length effort for the famed Ninja Tune label.
Following the release of lead single “Sorceress” back in June, Rakei has blessed us with the second taste of the forthcoming 11-track suite in the form of the sublime, shapeshifting new single “Nerve,” which features the guitar handiwork of The Invisible’s Dave Okumu. “The song is about the concept of loving yourself wholly and truly before you offset that love onto others,” Rakei reveals in an official statement. From the imaginative sounds of these first two album teasers, it seems that moving from Brisbane to London a few years ago and immersing himself in the city’s vibrant music community has elevated Rakei’s music to that next level, and we can’t wait to hear much more from him and Wallflower.
