With the 20th anniversary of his seminal 1996 debut album Endtroducing….. on the horizon later this year, Josh Davis, more affectionately revered as DJ Shadow, has returned with a hypnotic dose of atmospheric, knob-twiddling genius in the form of “The Mountain Will Fall.” Davis’ latest cinematic composition is lifted from the legendary soundsmith’s forthcoming fifth studio album of the same name, due to arrive in stores June 24th.
If the lead track is any indication, The Mountain Will Fall promises to sound unlike any DJ Shadow long player that has come before. "It's like being at base camp and looking up at an unconquerable mountain; can't dwell on the difficulty, you have to just start the journey," Davis tweeted upon initiating the recording process nearly a year ago. "One step follows the next which leads the way to the next. There will be missteps but as long as the vision is whole, the mountain will fall."
