As I digest James Comey’s biting (and brave) testimony this morning and try not to fall even deeper into despair regarding the increasingly lamentable state of American politics, an unexpected ray of aural and visual sunshine has mercifully just arrived to lift my spirits. Annelotte de Graaf—the Dutch singer-songwriter who goes by her stage moniker Amber Arcades—has unveiled the lovely new video for the sterling single “Wouldn’t Even Know,” lifted from her new EP entitled Cannonball, which landed in stores courtesy of Heavenly Recordings this past Friday, June 2nd. The track and accompanying visuals feature Bill Ryder-Jones, the co-founder of The Coral who has cultivated an acclaimed solo career of his own since leaving the band nearly a decade ago.
“I'm so happy to be releasing these tunes,” de Graaf confided about the EP’s release in an official statement. “We had two days off in New York on our tour last September and we recorded them in that time. I've thought about postponing their release and waiting till I have more songs to make it into a full record, but I actually feel like they fit together wonderfully as an EP and am glad they get to be out there in this form.”
Watch the Wander Andringa directed video below and be sure to add Cannonball to your collection when you have the chance. If you happen to be in Brooklyn and can score tickets, try to catch her Northside Festival performance at Knitting Factory this evening.
