Some people swear against checking their email after a certain hour in the evening, for fear that it will distract them from their nighttime unwinding ritual, as they drift closer to their sleepy dreamland. But occasionally, checking your inbox late at night reveals impromptu surprises amid the mundane work notices and inevitable junk-mail, as was the case for the Albumism team last night.
In a thoughtful note addressed to Kweli Club members, which we proudly are, Talib Kweli shared an exclusive video clip of a 2014 live performance of “Delicate Flowers.” Lifted from his forthcoming film Prisoner of Conscious, Live From Brooklyn, which premiered last fall at the Long Beach International Film Festival (LBIFF) and arrives on iTunes soon, the original track features on his 2013 album Prisoner of Conscious, with the live version subsequently appearing on 2014’s P.O.C. Live!.
Demonstrating once again why he is one of hip-hop’s most dynamic lyricists and impassioned performers, the ever-electrifying Kweli and his full supporting band are in stellar form here, as they delight the captivated crowd at Brooklyn Bowl in the borough's Williamsburg neighborhood.
Check out the clip below, and then head on over to Kweli Club to check out all of the great music, books, clothes, and other items they have to offer.
Also be sure to peep Kweli currently on tour with The Soul Rebels through the end of the month, followed by his two-night stint at New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club.
