One year ago today on January 15, 2016, I launched Albumism.com with the mission of celebrating our love affairs with albums past, present and future. The collective “our” has never pertained just to myself and the Albumism editorial team, but rather—and most importantly—it encapsulates the worldwide community of our fellow album and music lovers. More specifically, it applies to you.
Over the past twelve months, the team and I have enjoyed getting to know our readers while indulging our shared passions for long players of many different shades, stripes and styles. And in looking toward the year ahead, we’re excited to further expand our ever-evolving content platform and provide our community with even more intelligent, thoughtful, and entertaining album tributes, reviews, previews, news, interviews, and playlists.
Speaking of the latter, and to commemorate year number one, we’ve whipped together a special, mono-themed playlist comprised of 50 songs spanning an eclectic mix of artists including R.E.M., Nas, The O’Jays, Radiohead, Earth, Wind & Fire, U2, Faithless, Ryan Adams, Public Enemy, and many more. Stream and enjoy the mix below or via our Spotify page here.
Many, many heartfelt thanks to you for making our inaugural year such an exciting one, and of course HUGE PROPS are in order for our rock star team of writers including Patrick Corcoran, Grace Curtis, Gregory Dale, Christopher A. Daniel, Jesse Ducker, Steven E. Flemming, Jr., Brian Grosz, Quentin Harrison, Rayna Khaitan, Matt Koelling, Chris Lacy, David H. Miller, Terry Nelson, Brandon Ousley, Teresa Tulipano, and Stephan Wyatt.
