Embracing his unabashed adoration for ‘80s rock ballads, acclaimed singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has unveiled the guitar-heavy new single “Do You Still Love Me?” The track is the initial offering from his forthcoming sixteenth studio album Prisoner which lands in stores February 17th courtesy of his PAX AM label and Blue Note Records. The new long player follows last year’s underappreciated Taylor Swift covers album 1989, which was preceded by 2014’s Ryan Adams.
Prisoner is Adams’ first album featuring original compositions since his divorce from actress/singer Mandy Moore. “I started writing this record while I was going through a very public divorce, which is a humiliating and just a fucking horrible thing to go through no matter who you are,” Adams recently confided to The Japan Times in advance of his December 9th performance in Tokyo. “To be me and to go through that the way that I did was destructive on a level that I can’t explain. So a lot of extra work went into keeping my chin up and remembering what I did and what I loved about who I was.”
