More than three years since they released their divine debut long player If You Wait, Albumism favorites London Grammar celebrated New Year’s Eve by treating fans to the video for their powerful new song “Rooting For You.”
The sparse yet enthralling track elevates Hannah Reid’s soaring vocals to the forefront, as she takes center stage with no instrumentation for the entire first half of the four-and-a-half minute composition. The swelling, supporting symphony that emerges at the 2:15 mark enhances the emotional weight of Reid’s voice, as she croons “And where did she go? / Truth left us long ago / And I need her tonight because I'm scared of loneliness with you / And I should let it go / But all that is left is my perspective, broken and so left behind again” in the second verse.
