This spring marks thirty years since Prince protégé Jill Jones released her self-titled 1987 debut album, an expertly crafted song suite that she co-produced with her mentor and an essential component of Paisley Park’s prolific recorded repertoire. Now, three decades later and nearly nine months removed from Prince’s unexpected passing, the singer-songwriter is prepping a tribute EP entitled Requiem For A Prince and she recently shared the stirring, Seth Neblett directed video for the emotionally powerful first single “I Miss You.”
“Looking at the type of fame that Prince had or has, it’s just a little wash of water that splashed many of our ways,” Jones confided to The Huffington Post’s Ashley Gail Terrell this past September. “He was the tree and everybody was the branch. It takes a really strong-minded person to understand their mission in life because he was able to have it all.”
