On the strength of its seventeen sterling compositions, James Blake’s exquisitely executed masterpiece of a third studio album, The Colour in Anything, captured the number one spot on our Best Albums of 2016 list, amid stiff competition. And though nearly a year has passed since the multidimensionally gifted singer-songwriter-producer-instrumentalist blessed the world with this grand statement, the songs contained therein have remained firmly entrenched in my and many people’s minds.
One of the very finest among these is the multi-layered confessional co-written by Frank Ocean, “My Willing Heart,” for which Blake unveiled stirring visuals today. Directed by Anna Rose Holmer, the black-and-white video stars a pregnant and graceful Natalie Portman, whose daughter Amalia was born last month.
