Though only three and a half years have passed since we heard Gwen Stefani on No Doubt’s 2012 album Push and Shove, it’s downright astonishing to believe that it has been ten years since her last solo offering, The Great Escape (2006). Fortunately for her loyal fans, the long wait for her third long player is nearly over, as This is What the Truth Feels Like is slated to hit stores on March 18th.
Back in October, Stefani offered the first peek into the new album’s sound with the emotionally charged lead single “Used to Love You,” inspired by the much publicized dissolution of her thirteen-year marriage to Gavin Rossdale.
This past week, she unveiled the follow-up single, the noticeably more buoyant and uplifting “Make Me Like You,” which finds the singer opening herself up to the prospect of new love in the wake of her recent heartbreak. Those who maintain even the most cursory awareness of celebrity news will recognize who she’s affectionately addressing throughout the song.
